Alex Lowe is a mother, a doctor, and the wife of detective John Lowe. She is a character in Hotel portrayed by Chloë Sevigny. She and her husband are dealing with a major loss in their family when he checks in the Hotel Cortez.

Background

Alex Lowe is a loving mother to a degree, as she loves Holden her son more than Scarlett her daughter, she is also a decent wife, but has her faults as she can't forgive John for losing their son and blames him entirely for the incident.

Alex, John, and their children Scarlett and Holden were at a Santa Monica carnival. John decides to take Holden to the carousel, while Alex and Scarlett spend time together. He puts him on a horse, then checks a notification on his phone. When he turns back around, he sees that Holden is not on the carousel anymore.

After a week of constantly checking her phone, she becomes distant and doesn't talk much. Even after a year, she can't get used to living without her son. She admits that she loved him even more than Scarlett and John. One night John found her dying in the bathtub after trying to kill herself by cutting her veins. John saved her though and she lived.

Personality and Appearance

Alex is a young woman with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a slim, light face. She usually wears a beige beret. Her style includes comfortable blouses, skirts, and coats. She is a brave and independent woman and has an unnatural love for her son, where she refers to him as her "soulmate", and will do anything for her son Holden even if that means being Afflicted to be with him for the rest of eternity

Story

She is first mentioned while her husband John is reading to their daughter on the phone, and she refuses to talk to him. She asks John to take care of Scarlett because she has to go out and visit a patient. Later, he receives a message with an address and a call for help. He goes to the address and finds disemboweled twin brothers. It turns out that somebody pranked him by texting him using Alex's phone ID. She refuses to protect herself and instead asks John to leave so that they can have a break from each other.^[1]

Alex goes to look at Max, a boy with the measels and tells his mother that he sould have gotten vaccinated. Alex is afraid that her daughter was kidnapped when she wasn't home. Scarlett comes though and she is relieved but upset that she is talking about her kidnapped son Holden. Аlex is still trying to alleviate Max Ellison's measles. After not being able to do it herself, she hospitalizes him. A therapist has come to The Lowes' house for family therapy. Though Alex and John didn't believe Scarlett that Holden is alive, Alex is surprised by the fact that her daughter says that he smells like lavender. She loved his scent when he was a baby. At the Cortez, Alex asks John for a divorce and notices that he is slightly stressed. She goes with him to his room where she gives him some pills and tells him to have a rest. They make out, but Alex stops and advises him to contact her lawyer for any further questions. Alex leaves and finds a dead Claudia who criticiczes her clothes. Alex turns to find Holden and she takes him home.

Alex takes Holden home and Holden is afraid of the dog Jasper. Alex puts the dog in the bathroom and checks Holden's tempature and it is 75.5 degrees fahrenheit. She asks if he is cold and he says no but he is thirtsy. She goes and gets him two drinks - apple and orange juice. While she is pouring them she is spilling the juice everywhere do to the stress. She brings him the drinks just to find he was drinking Jasper's blood. Holden says he wants to go to his other mommy and she takes him to the Cortez. She watches Holden go to bed in his coffin and Elizabeth takes Alex away to explain his condition. Elizabeth tells her that she was the one who stole her son. Alex points a gun at her and leaves but Tristan slaps her to the floor and steps on her face, he lets go and she runs. Alex comes back later to be turned into a vampire and Elizabeth slits her chest and Alex drinks the blood and falls asleep in her arms. Alex at the hospital where she works takes her tempature to find out it is the same as Holden and that she is a vampire. She gos to find Mrs. Ellison and sees that Max is about to die. Alex then goes to find blood bags and starts to drinks and get blood all over her and she changes and goes into Max's room when no one is in there and puts her blood in his IV bag and he begins to wake up. Later, Mrs. Ellison and Max are found by Alex and Alex is glad he is okay. Alex is hired by Elizabeth to be the Towheads nanny and she explains the rules and Holden and her go to bed in the coffins. John sees Holden in his room and follows him to find Alex and the Towheads sleeping and he passes out. Alex goes to Liz and explains what happened and they brake the coffins and dipose of the evidence. Alex goes into John's room and he says he saw her in a coffin and she says that never happened and John shows her but the coffins are gone. Liz tells Alex about Bartholomew's escape and how Alex will have to find him.

She finds Vendela and Agnetha after they murdered a young man and persuades them that their purpose could be for them to mess with people's minds, implying she convinced them to do this to John.

She is called to her home after John shot at Bartholomew and refused to talk to Scarlett, instructing the police officer to take her to her grandmother's house. She tells John he needs a good night's sleep in his own bed. She indicates she will be returning to the Hotel. When John accuses her of this she says, "I don't know what you are talking about." He slams the door on her and she flinches.

She finds Bartholomew in the garden of her home, picks him up, and returns him to the hotel. After returning from Paris, Elizabeth comes to visit her son and finds Alex in the room. Alex reports that he was hurt, but that he is better now and he only lost a little blood. Elizabeth says, "You saved my son." Alex replies "You saved mine" before leaving the room.^[2] Alex is seen with John in a waiting room saying that he could go to a much better and more comfortable place for him. Alex is seen giving Elizabeth her drink when on the news a reporter says a man was drined of blood and Elizabeth starts to get suspicous of Alex. Alex goes to Max's house to find mutiple drained of blood bodies and mutiple blood sucking children. Alex starts asking questions and then two girls say they do not feel good. The kids leave Alex at the house and tell her to explain to the cops what happened. Alex and John have a dinner and talk to each other about things. They both agree that they are the world's worst parents. Alex tells Elizabeth about her turning Max into a vampire and Elizabeth threatens to kill Holden and her if she dosen't fix it. Alex and John go back to get the blood sucking children and one of them dies from sickness. The others outnumber John. Alex and John take the kids to the hotel and trap them in the hallway.

Later John and Alex have sex after locking the kids in the hallway. John and Alex have falled back in love. Alex gets Holden and John and they leave the hotel with Sally yelling and threating them. Alex, John, Holden, and Scarlett go home and Alex shows Holden to his room but Scarlett dosen't want this kind of family. John goes to find his family but they were kidnapped by Elizabeth. Alex and Holden go to the hospital for blood and Scarlett knows where they need to go and they go to the hotel and reunite with the others there. Alex and John decide to send Scarlett away at the Thacter Bording School. In the future on Devil's Night, Alex is sleeping with Holden while her daughter is visiting.
