This is a chronology of events for the American Horror Story titled "Hotel".

1895

• James March was born on October 30th.

1904

• Countess Elizabeth was born.

1925

• Mr. March begins the construction of the Hotel Cortez.
• Mr. March kills his construction manager.
• Ms. Evers's son Albert is kidnapped and killed by Gordon Northcott.
• Countess meets Valentino and Natacha in Hollywood.

1926

• Rudolph Valentino and Natacha Rambova are trapped into a secret hallway at the Cortez by James March.
• The Countess marries Mr. March.
• Mr. March begins the Ten Commandments murders.
• The Countess goes to Charles Montgomery for an abortion, but her son, Bartholomew, survives the procedure.
• After being busted by the police, Mr. March shoots Ms. Evers and slices his own throat at 2:25 am.

1977

• Ramona Royale meets Elizabeth and becomes her lover.

1984

• Liz Taylor (formerly Nick Pryor) goes on a business trip to the Hotel Cortez, where he meets the Countess who helps him find his true identity.

1986

• The Countess rescues Wren from her father's car.

1991

• Ramona and the Countess grow apart.
• Ramona meets rapper Prophet Moses and turns him.
• The Countess kills Prophet Moses and his crew.

1992

• Ramona goes home to visit her aging father and mother.
• After Ramona's mother dies she kills her mentally ill father.

1993

• Sally brings her musician friends to the hotel to have a drug-fueled threesome.
• Sally accidentally overdoses them and they die.
• Sally, sewed to her friend's corpses, is tortured by the Addiction Demon for three days.
• She finally breaks free but keeps visiting the Hotel.

1994

• Sally shows up in the Cortez with Donovan.
• Donovan's mother, Iris, follows them into the Cortez and finds her son overdosed in Room 64.
• Believing Donovan is dead, she pushes Sally out the window to her death.
• Elizabeth saves Donovan by turning him.
• Iris becomes the manager of the Cortez.

2010

• The Lowe family visits a carnival in Santa Monica.
• Elizabeth kidnaps Holden.
• John Lowe visits the Hotel Cortez.
• He meets Mr. March who recruits him to carry out the rest of his Ten Commandments killings.

2015-16

• John Lowe investigates a new series of murders in Los Angeles, and later finds out he is the Ten Commandments Killer and completes the work.
• The Hotel Cortez is sold to new owner, Will Drake. The deal is brokered by Marcy.
• Tristan Duffy and Alex Lowe are turned by the Countess.
• Will Drake and the Countess get married.
• Will Drake and Ramona Royale are trapped into a closed hallway at the Cortez by the Countess.
• Ramona kills Will.
• Natacha and Valentino breaks out of the closed hallway under the renovations and kills Marcy.
• Donovan shoots Valentino.
• Elizabeth shoots Natacha.
• Liz and Iris attack Elizabeth in her penthouse and shoot Donovan by accident.
• John shoots Elizabeth and takes her head as the last Ten Commandments trophy.
• Liz is diagnosed with prostate cancer and makes Elizabeth kill her.
• Billie Dean visits the Hotel Cortez.

2022

• Billie Dean Howard makes several television specials that ruin the reputation of the Hotel Cortez.
• John Lowe dies by gunshot on the stoop of the Cortez fleeing the police.
• John brings Billie Dean Howard to Devil's Night and scares her away from the Hotel by threatening her that if she mentions the Hotel ever again that Ramona Royale will come after her and kill her.
• An adult Scarlett Lowe comes to visit her family in the Hotel.
• Elizabeth meets a new man at the bar of the Hotel.
