1984 is the ninth installment of the anthology TV series American Horror Story. On April 10, 2019, Ryan Murphy announced the season's title on his social media pages. [1]
It is set to premiere on FX on September 18, 2019. [2]
The first trailer for the season was released on August 26, 2019.[3]

Announcements
- First actors to be confirmed by Murphy himself were Emma Roberts and Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy. They will play a couple. [5] [6]
- Sarah Paulson will return, and she already knew the theme of the season. [7]
- For the first time since her first appearance in Murder House, Paulson will play a minor role.[8]
- Filming is expected to begin in June 2019. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles.
- According to California Film Commission, budget for the ninth season is around $44 million. They will get $8 million for filming in California.
- Billy Eichner, Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare and Cheyenne Jackson were confirmed not to return this season. [9] [10]
- This marks Peters first season's absence in the entire series and will make Sarah Paulson the sole actress to have appeared in all seasons thus far.
- It's also the first season without Cheyenne Jackson since he joined the cast in Hotel.
- On July 10, 2019, Ryan Murphy announced on his Instagram account that Angelica Ross, known for her role as Candy in Pose, has joined the cast. [11]

- Filming takes place at Santa Clarita, California.
- AHS 1984 will have a ten-episode run, with its seventh episode slated to air on October 30th, the eve of Halloween. At any rate, the season is expected to wrap up on November 20th, 2019. [14]
- On September Friday the 13th, 2019, Ryan Murphy released the title sequence for AHS 1984. [15] Murphy revealed that the concept for the title sequence was inspired by an “original 'fan' cut...posted on Twitter.” In fact, Murphy liked it so much that he brought the fan, whose name is Corey Vega, on board to “[evolve] the concept into something major.”[16]
