Darren Everett Criss (born February 5, 1987) is an American actor, singer, songwriter, and musician.

Biography[]

The multi-talented performer born Darren Everett Criss in San Francisco, CA is a co-founder/co-owner of the Chicago musical theater company StarKid Productions, where he played the acclaimed titular role in A Very Potter Musical. The theater would make history with their original cast recording for the production Me and My Dick, the first student-produced musical recording to debut on the Billboard charts, at number eleven on the Top Cast Albums chart in 2010. The theater maintains a YouTube channel, Team StarKid, which features the aforementioned productions and others as well as the web series Little White Lie. Criss also recently starred in a short film recreation of the hit movie, Big, along with actress, Evan Rachel Wood. In 2012, he was cast alongside Kristen Wiig in the movie, Girl Most Likely, where he played Lee, the main love interest to Wiig's character (Imogene).

Before landing his star-making role on Glee, Criss had a recurring role on the short-lived witchcraft series Eastwick as Josh Burton. He has also appeared on Cold Case and has a recurring role on Lisa Kudrow's online series Web Therapy. He has lent his voice to the animated programs Archer, The Cleveland Show, and Transformers: Robots in Disguise.

Criss made his major television breakthrough when he was cast in the hit show, Glee. On the show, he played the character Blaine Anderson, an openly gay singer part of a rival singing group to the show's main show choir, the New Directions. After his character began seriously dating Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) at the end of season 2, Criss was added to the main cast of the show by season 3. Darren continued as his main character on the show until the 6th and final season of the show in Spring 2015. In 2011, Glee released the album, Glee: The Music Presents the Warblers, which featured Criss' voice. The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 and number one on Billboard‍‍ '​‍s Soundtracks chart, selling 86,000 copies in its first week.

Work on American Horror Story[]

Darren Criss was reported to be in talks to join American Horror Story in 2015 during its fifth installment, Hotel. He special guest starred as "Justin, a Silver Lake hipster who heads to the hotel on Halloween with his equally hip girlfriend to escape pesky trick-or-treaters. But after one too many room service demands, Kathy Bates' character, the head of the hotel, gives Criss' character a Halloween trick they will never forget." [1]
