Doris Gardner is a pregnant woman who is trying to find the bright side on her new life in Provincetown. She is a character in Double Feature portrayed by Lily Rabe.

Background

A former teacher who gave up the profession in favor of caring for her daughter Alma and attempting an interior design career which she promotes online, Doris is comfortable with the level of wealth and happiness she and her husband have found in their lives when they move to Provincetown.

Personality and Appearance

Initially Doris is presented as a headstrong character whose primary concern is the wellbeing of her family; she becomes stunned and later worried by Harry's writing output and Alma's quickly improving musical talent. Pregnant at the beginning of the season, as time progresses she depends on her husband and daughter more and more due to the mobility and energy issues pregnancy is causing her, allowing them to take advantage of her and eventually turn her into a Flesh Phantom. Unlike the rest of her family she is not particularly ambitious and is hurt when her own daughter calls her pathetic for not finding success with her interior designing career. Prior to her transformation Doris is an attractive blonde-haired woman likely in her early-mid 30s; as a Flesh Phantom she loses her hair and her grace, becoming an erratic and bloodthirsty victim of Provincetown's dark secrets.

• Last seen playing Wittrock’s late grandmother in AHS: 1984, Rabe now finds herself playing his pregnant wife Doris. Despite being a city girl by nature, Doris is trying to look on the bright side of her new life in Provincetown — even though things don’t tend to turn out well for expectant mothers in this franchise.
• She is the only character portrayed by Lily Rabe not to die.
• She is the only known named "Flesh Phantom" to be still alive.
