Russell George Tovey (born November 14, 1981) is an English actor.

Tovey was born on 14 November 1981 in Billericay, Essex to a working-class family. Tovey began his career as a child actor with a theatre background that includes roles at the Royal National Theatre as well as touring to Broadway, Sydney, Wellington and Hong Kong. He is best known for playing the role of werewolf George Sands in the BBC's supernatural comedy-drama Being Human, Rudge in both the stage and film versions of The History Boys, Steve in the BBC Three sitcom Him & Her, Kevin Matheson in the HBO original series Looking and Harry Doyle in ABC's Quantico.

Russel Tovey came out in his early twenties as a gay man, and has been a staunch advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights ever since. A position reflected in his career choice as well. Russell Tovey is also a great admirer of contemporary art. Since 2018, Tovey has hosted a podcast called Talk Art with his friend, the gallerist Robert Diament.
